Mandy Pearl was encouraged to send her pictures to SCORE by a friend from a town called Huddersfield in England. The way Mandy pronounced it, it sounded like "Hooters Field," which kinda sounded just right. Two American TV sitcoms of the 1960s, Petticoat Junction and Green Acres, were based in Hooterville, an inside joke by the writers.
Mandy's friend was a guy friend, not a boyfriend-boyfriend, but Mandy trusted his judgment and followed his suggestion. The petite yet stacked brunette had never seen SCORE or Voluptuous magazines (even though they're sold all over the UK) nor had she seen SCORELAND. Mandy was in the beauty business back home and was very familiar with the modeling business, albeit the fully dressed modeling business.
